Norbord Joint & Joist gets DIY seal of approval
Norbord’s new Caberfix Joint & Joist adhesive, developed specially for use with the company’s market-leading Caberdek Tongue & Groove flooring, has received an enthusiastic endorsement from an unexpected quarter.
Nottingham-based DIY enthusiast, Richard Parker, is singing the praises of Joint & Joist after using it on his latest home improvement project – a new breakfast bar for his kitchen.
Richard, who worked as a joiner during the 1980s and ‘90s, saw Caberfix Joint & Joist advertised in a copy of Professional Builder magazine. Fascinated – but not entirely convinced – by the claims made for the new adhesive, Richard took part in the Professional Builder giveaway.
To test the product, Richard used it to fix the solid oak edging to his new breakfast bar. “It worked really well. I didn’t even need to use clamps – I just applied the glue than used masking tape to hold everything in place until the product was dry.”
Joint & Joist is a polyurethane elastomeric adhesive specially formulated to replace mechanical fixings between a Caberdek floor and the supporting joists. Only three nails are required per board, simply to hold the board in place while the adhesive cures. This reduces the number of nails and screws by 80%.
Caberfix Joint & Joist is up to two and a half times stronger than other PU floor adhesives. It creates a strong, flexible bond between the boards and the joists to produce a silent, squeak-free floor. And because it is so quick and easy to use, Caberfix Joint & Joist can save the average builder up to 30 minutes per 50m² of floor.
